"Older but No Wiser" -Archie (Archibald) Bester (Alladyce).

Brian Harris Hon.Chair Of the Bester Appreciation Society (Eastcote)-B.A.S.(E.) writes-

"Forgive me for I have (technically) committed a heinous crime-that of theft! I was cycling in the High Street when I spotted the blood red convertible Corvette Stingray(1974)  of the bounder "Gypsy" Davey Flatman and there on the back seat I spied some 1/4'' tapes labeled "Bester-the good stuff".
I could not resist the temptation and I know that the wheels of the legal system would grind too slowly (-if so small) before we could reclaim these treasures through the courts.
After carefully stowing my bicycle clips in the pannier-I snatched up the box of tapes and stuffed it beneath my cycling cape and rode off on my Rudge, with the faint echo of Flatman's grating voice shouting "Come back you Madman!". Rather rude don't you think?
My BHS comfy waist trousers caught in the chain-guard and I had to hide out at a friend's house.I sought sanctuary at  Mrs Ethel Burbidge's bungalow.
I secreted the tapes in  Mrs  Burbidge's bedroom drawers and we had a cup of tea whilst she made a telephone call to her son Derek who lives somewhere up North -Middlesborough I believe. She was trying to arrange some sort of meeting.
After the tea ("milk-no sugar thank you") we repaired upstairs and rifled at our leisure through the box which we opened out on Mrs B's Posturepedic .
I must say  the titular Mrs B was an enthusiastic and passionate assistant who has a delicate touch. We soon reached the climax of our efforts!
I have never been so aroused-there are dozens of works for the connoisseur which we (the B.A.S.(E.) will release as soon as we can clean them up.
Here is a "new" song which coincidentally matches the requirements for this month's Strikes a Chord competition theme-Serendipity!-such a fortuitous find.
I must go now-there is a blue light outside and I can hear the voice of our local beat Bobby Sergeant Spottiswode shouting through the letterbox-apparently there is a Social Worker and  a couple of Doctors who wish to "assess" me  ....."

Spiral Earth at Bearded Theory Festival this weekend

We have a soft spot for the Bearded Theory festival here at Spiral Earth. You can't help but be infected with the enthusiasm that the organisers have for their baby, which is five years old this year. We love the fact that there is something for everyone, loads of space in a fantastic setting and a great mix of music.

We will be there and loading up pictures, video and interviews all the time - this year we will be loading a feed of news and gossip on our Facebook page. We will attempt to answer those burning questions, has Adam Ant got any hair left, who wil the secret guests be (we know! ha!) and should 3 Daft Monkeys be granted National Treasure status?

Win tickets to Eastleigh Festival of Music

We have a bunch of tickets to give away to The Eastleigh Music Festival & Mela, which features the very best in folk music, a free local band showcase or home grown talent, emerging artists that are pushing the boundaries on the nu-folk/acoustic/indie scene and the Eastleigh Mela – a free multi-cultural celebration in partnership with the Asian Welfare & Cultural Association.

Check the site out www.spiralearth.co.uk for more features, interviews, reviews, twisted opinions and ways to survive the looming zombie apocalypse

Where have you been all my life?!

Downloaded TuneInRadio for my phone today, and this was the first station that came up as 'recommended' (must be scanning my mp2s me thinks).

Worked from home and listened all day. Great music, no djs, recommended!

"Whether it's the Weather(or Whether it was Me...)"

The Bester Appreciation Society (Eastcote) have again come up Trumps!!
Mr Chudley Budleigh-Wuddlington has wrested another E.M.I.Tape (1/4 inch) from the ice cold and treacherous grip of 'Gypsy' Davey Flatman.
What a treasure- a half formed song by our hero from 1959 showing the creative juices flowing. This is coupled with a brief glimpse into the domestic turmoil that was the Alladyce household with Archie's German Shepherd Adolf disturbing our hard working songsmith.
The subject is Archie's oft preoccupation with sex and Florrie and how it has shaped his life (got him into trouble!)
As the young lady in the MacDonalds said to me the other day-'Enjoy'-I hate that-don't you?

"Adolf"-Archie's pet German Shepherd.

This is my weather tune. I couldn't get any words to work so it's just a banjo instrumental! Cheers Andy

"Here Come the Nice"

Smallfacesherecometheniceitali

Old Man Knott set us all a challenge earlier in the month and true to form I've avoided finishing a rediscovered Archie Bester song about the weather and gone all Psychedelic on your arse! It's been a month of 'olideys'(well that's my excuse anyway). So I hope you enjoy this version of the Small Faces classic "Here Come the Nice"-Turn on,Tune in and Drop out-or at least have a pint of Newky Brahn and get all wobbly whilst blinking rapidly and spinning around-it'll have the same effect!

iRig Garageband Blues (or, does anyone know of a good multitrack app for iPhone?)

Greetings fellow musical misadventure's

A few months ago I sold off grannies finest bone china tea service and used the £20 it raised after an intense bidding war at Christies to buy myself an iRig for my iPhone. I already had and played with the Garageband app a bit and thought it had potential.

When the iRig eventually arrived I found I had much better success using it with Amplitube, and for the most part forgot all about Garageband, this has all changed however.

I recently treated myself to a rather tasty 12 string (A Faith Saturn 12 Natural, my 3rd Faith guitar in case anyone is wondering) This combined with my dads purchase of a perfectly acceptable Gear 4 Music bass has given me all the tools I need to finally complete a project I've wanted to do for ages, years in fact, namely use a multitrack to build up the opening chord stab from A Hard Days Night. Now the problem.

Garageband has gone from not liking my iRig much to not liking the damn thing at all! When I plug in it refuses to accept that it has an input. I want to use Garageband as it has an 8 track recorder built right in, with Amplitube you only get a 4 track and that is an £8 in app purchase. So now I've got everything I need, and I still can't become the 5th Beatle (I think that 'John, Paul, George, Ringo & Danny' has a nice ring to it personally.)

So am I doing something wrong or am I completely up app creek without a download?

Cheers all

Danny
